Ada Ameh

Chinedu Ikedieze, a veteran Nollywood actor, has shared how the passing of his colleague, Ada Ameh, deeply affected both him and the entire cast of the beloved sitcom, 'The Johnsons.' Ada Ameh, known for her role as Emu, the matriarch of the Johnsons' family, passed away on July 17th, 2022, in Warri, Delta State.

In an interview with Chude Jideonwo, Ikedieze, who portrayed Efe, the first son in the show, expressed that Ameh was not only a co-star but also a maternal figure to them. He revealed that her portrayal of Emu was an extension of her caring nature off-screen. The news of her passing came as a devastating blow, akin to losing a part of himself.

The impact was so profound that production of the show was temporarily halted. Ikedieze acknowledged the challenges of moving forward without her character, Emu, a central presence in the series.

Despite the initial doubts, the show eventually continued, and while difficult, they found a way to navigate the loss and keep her memory alive.
